New Apple patent shows dual-mode iPhone headset

New Apple patent shows dual-mode iPhone headset

Today we have seen a new Apple patent land on the official US Patent and Trademark Office website, which is listed as under number 20120171964 and described as a wireless communication headset that would also have wireless and wired modes. Some of our readers might remember another Bluetooth headset from Apple, which had been the first accessory of its kind for the iPhone, but discontinued back in 2009. It seems that Apple want another crack at it with a new device offering dual-mode features.

You can see an image from the patent application above although Apple Insider has another image showing a basic drawing of the device, which had been sent to the patent office. The full details can be seen on the US20120171964 patent page. The text below is an abstract from the filing and is how Apple describes the new Apple headset.

Would you prefer to buy an Apple branded iPhone headset? It’s worth noting that this device might never see the light of day, although if it does it would be interesting to see if iPhone owners really care more for an Apple branded accessory.
