We are sure most of our readers would be interested in finding out a way to get free paid-for content, which is exactly what the NYT reported within the last 24 hours. It seems that some iPhone users have been able to access paid app content for free, which had been thanks to a workaround.
Since this report broke we have seen the YouTube video taken down, which previously explained exactly how this loophole had been created. The video now has a message reading, “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Apple, Inc.“. The video had been created by a Russian developer, which explained a cheat that involved creating system certificates and changing a Wi-Fi setting.
Apple has since commented on this issue and said, “The security of the App Store is incredibly important to us and the developer community“. This would lose app developers a lot of money, which is exactly why the video has already been taken down. Apple is now investigating how this developer managed to cheat the system. What do you make of people cheating app developers out of money?
