iPhone 5 will be most successful smartphone release

In another ChangeWave Research report we’ve been treated to insight about the upcoming iPhone 5, and specifically focusing on the demand for the 2012 iPhone vs. interest before the iPhone 4S launched. Considering the iPhone 4S is known as the “most successful” smartphone launch in history, it’s interesting to see demand that is far more than the 4S model.

The image below highlights the likelihood of people purchasing the new Apple iPhone 5 at some point in the future, which shows 17% are somewhat likely and another 14% are very likely. When this is compared to a similar question asked by the same research company last year for iPhone 4S, we can see 11.5% were somewhat likely and 10% very likely. You can see these figures explained in the image below.

Advance demand for iPhone 5 is more than any other iPhone previously launched, and these expectations predict the iPhone 5 to set new records when compared to any smartphone before it. It’s worth noting that consumers were shown some expected specs for the iPhone 5 before answering the questions. These explained the possibility of 4G/LTE, improved camera, bigger screen, running on iOS 6, and expected prices at $399 for the 64GB model, $299 for 32GB, and $199 for 16GB on a 2-year contract.

How do you feel other smartphones compare to the iPhone in terms of sales and expected specs for the 6th generation iPhone?
